Singer Gronwall wins Sweden's 'Idol 2009'

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Jurors and viewers alike on "Idol 2009" said singer Erik Gronwall was the winner of the Swedish TV competition this season.

The Local said Saturday that Gronwall was praised by the show's judges during Friday's "Idol 2009 Final" for his three performances and the 22-year-old singer defeated fellow finalist Calle Kristiansson.

"Cool and raw," jury member Laila Bagge said of Gronwall's performances.

"All the pieces have fallen into place," juror Andreas Carlsson offered.

The Local said Gronwall, who is due to record two albums as "Idol" winner, was hopeful for the future after his victory.

"'Idol' is a start for me, both musically and personally," the amateur singer said.
