'Outnumbered' wins big at Comedy Awards

LONDON, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- British Comedy Awards judges named "Outnumbered" best sitcom and best comedy of the year, while also honoring one of the British TV comedy's stars.

The BBC said Saturday that in addition to the series honors given to the BBC One comedy, "Outnumbered" star Ramona Marquez was presented with an award for best female newcomer.

Meanwhile, the award for best comedy entertainment program of the year went to "Harry Hill's TV Burp" for a second straight year. The series' star, Harry Hill, was also honored with an award for best comedy entertainment personality.

The award for best live stand-up comedian went to Michael McIntyre while comedian Peter Kay received an outstanding contribution to comedy award.

Terry Wogan was honored with a lifetime achievement award at Saturday's ceremony and the comedian injected a bit of humor into the event while accepting the honor, the BBC reported.

"If you can stay upright and reasonably sober, they'll give you something in the end," Wogan said.
