JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- After becoming the first woman from Gibraltar to make the finals of the Miss World competition, Kaiane Aldorino won the title Saturday in South Africa.
Perla Beltran of Mexico became second princess while hometown favorite Tatum Keshwar of South Africa was selected as third princess, The Sowetan reported. Pooja Chopra of India won Miss World Beauty With a Purpose.
"As you can imagine, I am feeling extremely happy and I think that I need to sleep on this, to actually believe that it has happened to me," Aldorino said. "It is an amazing thing. I think that it will take a month to sink in."
Aldorino is to spend her year's reign as Miss World 2009 in London.
South Africa has been host of the pageant, held this year in Johannesburg, for two years. Next year, the pageant will celebrate its 60th anniversary in Vietnam.
