Billboard honors Swift and West

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- The U.S. magazine Billboard has named Taylor Swift and Kanye West its female and male artist of the year respectively.

The popular recording artists made headlines last September when West interrupted Swift's acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards show and declared Beyonce should have won the best female video prize Swift was holding.

Coming in at No. 2 on Billboard's Top Female Artists of 2009 list is Beyonce, followed by Lady Gaga at No. 3, Miley Cyrus at No. 4, Britney Spears at No. 5, Pink at No. 6, Katy Perry at No.7, Kelly Clarkson at No. 8, Rihanna at No. 9 and Keri Hilson at No. 10.

Billboard's roster of the Top Male Artists of 2009 ranks T.I. at No. 2, Flo Rida at No. 3, Jason Mraz at No. 4, Ne-Yo at No. 5, Lil Wayne at No. 6, Pitbull at No. 7, Jamie Foxx at No. 8, Eminem at No. 9 and Drake at No. 10.
