Man charged with sexting Ashanti's mom

NEW YORK, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- An Indiana man is in a New York jail awaiting trial for allegedly stalking and harassing R&B star Ashanti, her mother and sister, officials said.

Devar Hurd, 31, is accused of sending more than 30 sexually explicit text messages about Ashanti and her sister to their mother, Tina Douglas, the New York Post said.

Hurd reportedly declined a plea deal that would have put him behind bars for a year. His trial could begin as soon as Monday, the newspaper said.
