Rock 'n' Roll site to close in New York

NEW YORK, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- A worker at the New York branch of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame said the venue is going to close because it's not very popular.

The unidentified worker said the music site in New York's SoHo neighborhood has not enjoyed consistent visits since opening little more than a year ago, the New York Post reported Saturday.

"The business just hasn't succeeded the way they initially hoped that it would," the worker said Friday. "We did get a lot of people when the John Lennon exhibit opened in the summer, but since then, it's been very slow."

The New York branch of Cleveland's original Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will close Jan. 3, the Post reported.

Among the exhibits shown at the New York site were the Lennon exhibit about the late former Beatles singer, an exhibit dedicated to the now-defunct New York punk club CBGB and a three-dimensional map of the city's rock 'n' roll landmarks.
