Beyonce earns 10 Grammy nods

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Recording artist Beyonce was nominated for 10 Grammy Awards at a televised concert in Los Angeles Wednesday night.

Taylor Swift garnered eight nods, and the Black Eyed Peas, Maxwell and Kanye West each earned six.

David Guetta, Jay-Z and Lady Gaga received five apiece; and Colbie Caillat, Michael Giacchino, Kings of Leon, John Newton, RedOne, Bruce Springsteen, T-Pain and Keith Urban each received four nominations.

"The nominations this year truly reflect the talented community of music-makers who represent some of the highest levels of excellence in their respective fields," Neil Portnow, president and chief executive officer of The Recording Academy, said in a statement.

The Black Eyed Peas, Sugarland, Nick Jonas & the Administration and Maxwell performed at Wednesday night's concert celebrating the nominations, which aired on CBS. LL Cool J served as the event's host.

The nominees for album of the year are Beyonce's "I am… Sasha Fierce," the Black Eyed Peas's "The E.N.D.," Lady Gaga's "The Fame," Dave Matthews Band's "Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King" and Taylor Swift's "Fearless."

In the running for record of the year are "Halo" by Beyonce, "I Gotta Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas, "Use Somebody" by Kings of Leon, "Poker Face" by Lady Gaga and "You Belong with Me" by Taylor Swift.

The writers nominated for song of the year are Lady Gaga and RedOne for "Poker Face;" Hod David and Musze for "Pretty Wings;" Thaddis Harrell, Beyonce Knowles, Terius Nash and Christopher Stewart for "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It);" Caleb Followill, Jared Followill, Matthew Followill and Nathan Followill for "Use Somebody;" and Liz Rose and Taylor Swift for "You Belong with Me."

The contenders for best new artist are Zac Brown Band, Keri Hilson, MGMT, Silversun Pickups and The Ting Tings.

The 52nd annual Grammy Awards are to be held Jan. 31 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The show is to be broadcast live on CBS.
