LOS ANGELES, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- Pop star Janet Jackson has been booked as the opening act for the upcoming American Music Awards show, organizers said Thursday.
Orly Adelson, president of dick clark productions, said Jackson will kick off the Nov. 22 event at the NOKIA Theatre in Los Angeles by performing a medley of her greatest hits.
She will join previously announced acts, including Whitney Houston, Rihanna, Green Day, Shakira, Lil' Wayne, Mary J. Blige, Keith Urban, Lady Gaga, Eminem, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez, The Black Eyed Peas, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Daughtry and Adam Lambert.
Additional performers and presenters are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, ABC said.
"We're thrilled about having Janet Jackson open this year's show," American Music Awards producer Larry Klein said in a statement. "She is an incredibly dynamic performer and I think the audience will be excited to see what she has in store."
