NASHVILLE, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- U.S. country music singer Kellie Pickler said she enjoyed helping build a family a new house on the TV series "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."

The 23-year-old singer said she used electrical wiring skills she learned from her grandfather as a child to help build the home as part of her recent guest spot on the ABC series, The (Nashville) Tennessean said Sunday.

"I can actually wire a house. I started wiring when I was 5 years old. I would crawl under the house and run wires," Pickler told the Tennessean. "I grew up in the country, so the women had to know how to fix things as much as the men."

Despite being able to use her skills on the "Makeover" episode, scheduled to air Sunday night, Pickler admitted demolishing the family's original home was her favorite part.

"It was the only chance I've ever had to walk into a house with a sledge hammer and bust holes in walls," the "I Wonder" singer said.

The Tennessean said Pickler also admitted she cried when the family was presented with the new home.

"I was bawling like a baby," she told the Tennessean "I'm an emotional basket case anyway, but that was absolutely incredible."
