LOS ANGELES, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- The results of a survey on an America Online pop culture blog indicate U.S. residents see pop star Miley Cyrus as the worst celebrity influence of 2009.
Us Magazine reported online Friday the "Hannah Montana" star earned 42 percent of 44,594 votes tallied in the "Worst Celeb Influence" category of a recent survey by the AOL online blog Just So You Know.
Cyrus, 16, made headlines in June 2008 with her semi-nude photo spread in Vanity Fair magazine. The teen star also earned criticism for performing with a stripper pole during August's Teen Choice Awards.
Coming in second to Cyrus in the recent survey category was singer Britney Spears with 27 percent of the online votes.
Third on the list was rapper Kanye West with 19 percent, followed by singer Vanessa Hudgens at 9 percent and actor Shia LeBeouf at 3 percent.
Among the young stars topping the "Best Celeb Influence" category of the survey were actresses Selena Gomez and Emma Watson, along with singers Nick Jonas, Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber.
Specific percentages for the "Best Celeb Influence" category were not reported. The survey's margin of error and polling dates were also not reported.
