LONDON, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- U.K. soul singer Amy Winehouse is expected to finish work on an album next year and release it on her new Lioness label, Island co-president Darcus Beese said.

Lioness is an Island imprint.

"I've heard a couple of song demos that absolutely floored me," Beese told the BBC. "Hopefully, we'll have her album next year."

Winehouse's promising career has been sidelined in recent years by the Grammy Award-winner's addiction to drugs and erratic behavior.

However, Beese told the BBC Winehouse recently has been writing and recording "in fits and starts."

She is scheduled to sing backup for her 13-year-old goddaughter, Dionne Bromfield, on British TV's "Strictly Come Dancing" Saturday night. Lioness is to release Bromfield's first album Monday.
