LONDON, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Tickets for England's 2010 Glastonbury performing arts festival were sold out less than 24 hours after going on sale Sunday morning, organizers said.

It took several weeks for tickets to the 2009 event to sell out, the BBC said. This year's festival featured performances by Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young and Blur.

"Tickets for Glastonbury 2010 went on sale at 9 a.m. this morning and the festival's 40th anniversary is now sold out," a message on the festival's Web site said Sunday. "Thank you to all those who bought tickets. Confirmation e-mails are still in the process of being sent out. For those who didn't manage to reserve or buy tickets today, there will be a small number of tickets on sale over the coming weeks when any failed transactions have been canceled."

The BBC did not say how many tickets were sold.

The 2010 lineup hasn't been announced yet.
