July 1 (UPI) -- The teaser trailer for Jennifer Hudson's upcoming movie "Black Nativity" is out and the "Dreamgirls" star can be heard singing "Silent Night" in it.

The film, which is based in Langston Hughes's 1967 "gospel-song play" about the birth of Jesus tells the story with a contemporary spin.

Directed by Kasi Lemmons, of "Talk to me" fame, the film tells the story of "a street-wise teen from Baltimore, raised by a single mother, [who] travels to New York City to spend the Christmas holiday with his estranged relatives and embarks on a surprising and inspirational journey," according to IMDb.

Starrin Tyrese Gibson, Forest Whitaker, Angela Bassett Jennifer hudson and Mary J. Blidge, "Black Nativity" hits theaters November 27.
