June 20 (UPI) -- Universal Pictures has reportedly picked up the North American distribution rights to "Dumb and Dumber To," the sequel for the 1994 comedy starring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels.

The film will be directed by brothers Petter and Bobby Farrelly, who also directed the original. The brothers reportedly did a re-write on the original script which was penned by Sean Anders and John Morris, the co-writers of "Hot Tub Time Machine" and "She's out of my league."

Warner Bros., who originally had the rights to the film, dropped the project last week.
