Christie Brinkley: Photoshopping Melissa McCarthy 'kind of weird'

Melissa McCarthy's 30 pound "photoshop diet" on the cover of the British poster for "The Heat" rendered her barely recognizable, raising eyebrows and taking well, quite a lot of heat.

Supermodel Christie Brinkley, who knows a thing or two about photoshop, said she was disappointed and not a little baffled at the decision to alter McCarthy's image so much.

"I've been photoshopped before," she said. "I think it's kind of weird to do that with actors because obviously you can't photoshop a movie and you're going to be seeing the actors as they are in the movie."

"You get to know actors and you just love them the way they are," she said. "We all love Melissa McCarthy just the way she is."

Like McCarthy, who recently revealed her reaction to rude comments about her size, Brinkley says the attitude driving photoshop can be damaging.

"Everything gives the message it's not okay to be old, it's not okay to be fat, it's not okay to have any imperfections," she said. "There's too many outlets that are ready to pounce and it's unfortunate that's what it seems to take to sell magazines."

"I wish that there was some way we could change that."
