'Shape of Water' wins Golden Lion at Venice Film Festival

Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Guillermo del Toro has won the Golden Lion for Best Film for The Shape of Water at the Venice Film Festival.

The Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize was presented to Samuel Maoz for Foxtrot, while the Silver Lion for Best Director went to Xavier Legrand for Jusqu'a La Garde.

Charlotte Rampling was named Best Actress for her work in Hannah and Kamel El Basha earned the Best Actor honor for his performance in The Insult.

Martin McDonagh took home the award for Best Screenplay for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and a Special Jury Prize was given to Warwick Thornton for Sweet Country.

The Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Young Actor or Actress was presented to Charlie Plummer for Lean on Pete.
