Cannes: Nicole Kidman, Joaquin Phoenix and Diane Kruger win top honors

May 28 (UPI) -- This year's top honor, the Palme d'Or, was presented to filmmaker Ruben Ostlund for The Square at the Cannes Film Festival in France Sunday.

BPM [Beats Per Minute] won the Grand Prix and Loveless earned the Jury Prize.

Nicole Kidman was honored with the festival's Special Prize, while Sofia Coppola took home the Best Director award for The Beguiled, Joaquin Phoenix was named Best Actor for his work in You Were Never Really Here and Diane Kruger won the Best Actress title for her performance in In the Fade.
