March 24 (UPI) -- Disney CEO Bob Iger shared his thoughts regarding the future of Star Wars recently, noting what the upcoming Han Solo spinoff film will reveal about the iconic smuggler.

"That picks up Han Solo when he was 18 years old and takes him through when he was 24," Iger about where the film takes place within the Star Wars timeline while speaking at the Scale - Future of Tech and Entertainment conference as part of of an interview with his journalist wife, Willow Bay.

"There were a few things that happened [that were] significant in Han Solo's life, like acquiring a certain vehicle and meeting a certain Wookiee, that will happen in this film. But you'll also discover how he got his name," he continued.

The statement hints that perhaps Han Solo is not the character's original name.

Iger also discussed how Carrie Fisher's role as General Leia Organa in Star Wars: The Last Jedi will not be changed following her death and how the studio will not recreate her digitally for future films.

"She appears throughout VIII. And what I can say about that is, we're not changing VIII to deal with her passing," he said. "So her performance, which we're really pleased with, remains as it was in VIII."

"In Rogue One we created digitally a few characters. One had been an actor who actually passed away and was in an earlier Star Wars film," Iger continued. "We're not doing that with Carrie."

According to Iger, Star Wars: Episode IX will deal with Fisher's death all on its own.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi arrives in theaters Dec. 15, while the still untitled Han Solo spinoff film is due for release on May 25, 2018.
