Feb. 22 (UPI) -- First-time dad-to-be George Clooney says he and pregnant wife Amal Clooney will avoid dangerous travel from now on.

The 55-year-old American actor said in an interview with Paris Match at his home in Sonning, England, that he and Amal have reconsidered the countries they visit since learning the 39-year-old British-Lebanese human rights lawyer is expecting twins.

"We decided to be much more responsible, to avoid the danger. I won't go to South Sudan anymore or the Congo; Amal will no longer go to Iraq, and she'll avoid places where she knows she isn't welcome," he told the magazine.

Amal Clooney's job as a human rights attorney meant she often traveled to dangerous areas for her clients. She took on the Islamic State militant group in 2016 while representing Nadia Murad, a Yazidi human trafficking survivor.

"You know, this is something I discussed with my husband before I took on something like this," the barrister told the Today show in September. "We did discuss it, and we are aware of some of the risks involved, of course."

The Talk host Julie Chen announced this month that the couple are expecting twins in June. The actor told Paris Match he and Amal Clooney have yet to decide on where they'll ultimately settle as a family.

"We have the chance to live between three countries: Italy, America and England. But as soon as the children go to school, it will be necessary to choose where to settle. In the meantime, we will continue to move according to our respective schedules," he shared.

George Clooney said in an interview with Recontres de cinema this week that having twins will be a great "adventure." He last starred in the movie Money Monster with Julia Roberts and Jack O'Connell, and will produce Ocean's Eight.
