LOS ANGELES, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Upcoming sci-fi thriller God Particle produced by J.J. Abrams will reportedly be a part of the Cloverfield film universe.

The studio and Abrams are said to be wanting a Cloverfield tie-in film to release each year.

God Particle, which follows a team of astronauts as they make a terrifying discovery, is directed by Julis Onah from a script by Oren Uziel and stars David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ziyi Zhang, Elizabeth Debicki, Daniel Brühl and Chris O'Dowd.

Cloverfield,a found-footage thriller which featured a monster destroying New York City, was followed up in March with the surprise reveal of 10 Cloverfield Lane which was previously titled Valencia.

A trailer for 10 Cloverfield Lane was released only two months before release. The project starred Mary Elizabeth Winstead as she attempted to flee John Goodman who was keeping her captive inside his underground bunker due to an apparent attack on the outside world.
