LOS ANGELES, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- A preview of James Newton Howard's score from J.K. Rowling's upcoming film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, was released on Monday, giving a look into the film's 1920s feel. Howard composed the score for other blockbuster films like the Hunger Games series and The Dark Knight, and really wanted to be a part of Rowling's new franchise.

"It seemed like an incredible musical opportunity so I submitted a reel of my music," Howard said.
Howard, whose talents won him the role, was then tasked with creating the sound for one of the most anticipated film franchises since Harry Potter.
Howard sat down with Fantastic Beasts director David Yates and producer David Heyman, both of whom had previously worked on the Potter films, to discuss the film's musical direction.
"We talked about how the score would need to encompass many different styles of music and have a broad emotional range," Howard said.
That direction can be heard in a track from the soundtrack titled Tina Takes Newt In/Macusa Headquarters, which was released on Monday.
The first part of the composition scores an interaction between two of the film's main characters, Newt Scamander, played by Eddie Redmayne, and Porpetina "Tina" Goldstein, played by Katherine Waterston.
The film's 1926 setting can be heard in the second part of the song, which is named for the American wizarding headquarters.
"One of my biggest goals in writing the music for Fantastic Beasts was to create memorable melodies," Howard said. "J.K. Rowling's world has always had a great musical legacy and I was hoping to continue that tradition."
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is out in theaters on Nov. 18.
