'Madea Halloween' tops the North American box office with $27.6M

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Tyler Perry's holiday comedy Boo! A Madea Halloween is the No. 1 movie in North America, earning $27.6 million in receipts this weekend, BoxOfficeMojo.com announced Sunday.

Coming in at No. 2 is Jack Reacher: Never Go Back with $23 million, followed by Ouija: Origin of Evil at No. 3 with $14.06 million, The Accountant at No. 4 with $14.03 million and The Girl on the Train at No. 5 with $7.3 million.

Rounding out the top tier are Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children at No. 6 with $6 million, Keeping Up with the Joneses at No. 7 with $5.6 million, Kevin Hart: What Now? at No. 8 with $4.11 million, Storks at No. 9 with $4.085 million and Deepwater Horizon at No. 10 with $3.6 million.
