NEW YORK, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Kate Beckinsale says Selene will have a "twisted" plan of action in Underworld: Blood Wars.

The 43-year-old actress, who plays Selene in the Underworld films, teased "creative" and over-the-top violence to come in the Underworld: Awakening sequel while attending New York Comic Con over the weekend.

"It's all fairly creative violence in Underworld, which is cool. It's always on the border of being just a little bit too much," Beckinsale told Yahoo! Movies at the convention.

"If Selene ever has to really kill anybody -- like a really serious monster -- it's never just that she gets the biggest sword there is. It involves a plan that's twisted as [expletive]. She definitely has one of those plans in this film, which I like," she revealed.

Beckinsale first played Selene in the 2003 movie Underworld and has starred in two of three followups since. Awakening, which opened in 2012, centered on Selene discovering she and Michael (Scott Speedman) have a daughter.

"We left her at the end of Awakening having found out she has a daughter ... And Michael, her vampire/Lycan lover is still missing, so that's pressing for her," Beckinsale said of Blood Wars.

"We pick up a few weeks or months later, when she's on the run from both the Lycans and the Vampires. So she's in the worst position that she's ever been in," she added.

Beckinsale told fans in a Facebook Live interview in September that it was "very nice" but "odd" to return to playing Selene after several years. Underworld: Blood Wars opens Jan. 6, 2017, and released a new trailer Friday.
