LOS ANGELES, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Rihanna and Anne Hathaway are reportedly headed for Ocean's 8.

The 28-year-old singer and 33-year-old actress will join previously announced stars Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett in the Ocean's Eleven spinoff, according to Deadline.

Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling and Nora Lum, aka Awkwafina, are also being attached to the project. Carter had confirmed her interest in a June interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"It's a really good script, but I will don't know if I'm going to be in it," the actress said. "But it's a great script, and it's great for women. Just hilarious."

"When everyone says, 'Well, most characters in commercial films can just as easily be played by a woman,' well, I can tell you, it's true," she added of the female-led cast. "That's what they've just done with this."

Ocean's 8 will be directed by Gary Ross (Seabiscuit, The Hunger Games), with Ocean's Eleven helmer Steven Soderbergh as producer. The movie will reportedly center around a heist during the Met gala.

"It's a pretty similar tone," Ross said of the spinoff to Slash Film in June. "This is very much an extension and a continuation."

Ocean's Eleven (2001) is based on the 1960 Rat Pack film of the same name and inspired two sequels, Ocean's Twelve and Ocean's 13. The movie starred George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Julia Roberts and earned $450 million at the box office.
