LOS ANGELES, June 30 (UPI) -- True Blood alum Alexander Skarsgard says he has his dad -- Mamma Mia! and Girl with the Dragon Tattoo actor Stellan Skarsgard -- to thank for his life-long passion for Tarzan tales.

The younger Skarsgard will soon be seen in The Legend of Tarzan. Directed by David Yates and based on the stories of Edgar Rice Burroughs, the adventure picture co-stars Margot Robbie, Samuel L. Jackson, Djimon Hounsou, Jim Broadbent and Christoph Waltz.

"I was actually a big Tarzan fan as a kid -- the old Johnny Weissmuller movies -- because my father is one of the biggest Tarzan fans out there and he would, every Saturday, go to the matinee in the little town in Sweden where he grew up and watch all the old movies, so he introduced me to Tarzan and that's how I fell in love with him and the jungle and that whole world. So, I was obviously very excited when I heard about the project," Skarsgard revealed at a recent Los Angeles press conference.
