LOS ANGELES, May 31 (UPI) -- Dan Aykroyd has taken to social media to praise the upcoming Ghostbusters revival starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.

"As originator of the original: Saw test screening of new movie," the former writer and star of the original Ghostbusters from 1984 wrote on Facebook Sunday announcing he has viewed the remake.

"Apart from brilliant, genuine performances from the cast both female and male, it has more laughs and more scares than the first 2 films plus Bill Murray is in it!" he continued.

"As one of millions of man-fans and Ray Stantz, I'm paying to see that and bringing all my friends!" Aykroyd concluded referencing his character from the series.

Aykroyd is listed as an executive producer of the new Ghostbusters which is due in theaters July 15.

The comments come after the film's first trailer received a negative reaction from fans and became the most disliked movie trailer in YouTube history. A second trailer was uploaded recently featuring the new team of paranormal fighters hunting down a machine that is amplifying ghost activity in New York City. It was received slightly better.
