NEW YORK, May 27 (UPI) -- James McAvoy, who plays Professor X in X-Men: Apocalypse, says his character would fit in just right in a Deadpool sequel.

The Scottish actor said the R-rated film would give his Charles some freedom to be the version of himself McAvoy claimed is "a little bit kinky."

"I'd quite like to explore that" he told the Wall Street Journal.

He also predicted mutants could take on the Avengers in a quarrel without issue. "There's like eight of them and there's a hundred thousand of us," the actor said, adding his metal-controlling character could order Robert Downey Jr.'s character Iron Man around with ease.

"I'd just be like, 'Yo, Robert Downey -- sit down and make me a cup of tea," McAvoy joked.

McAvoy appears in Apocalypse alongside A-listers such as Jennifer Lawrence, Olivia Munn, Michael Fassbender, Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult and others. The film opens in theaters Friday, May 27.

Earlier this month, it was announced McAvoy will be divorcing from his wife of almost a decade, Anne-Marie McDuff.

"It is with tremendous sadness that we have come to the decision to divorce," the couple said in a statement at the time. "We enter this next phase with continued friendship, love and respect for one another and the shared focus of caring for our son. We ask that you respect our and, most importantly, our child's privacy during this time."

The couple are parents to 5-year-old son Brendan.
