NEW YORK, May 5 (UPI) -- Robert Downey, Jr., says Gwyneth Paltrow is his "free pass" in his marriage to Susan Downey.
The 51-year-old actor revealed as much on Wednesday's Howard Stern Show. Downey and Paltrow co-star as Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, and Pepper Potts in the Iron Man movies and The Avengers.
"I'm very happily married," Downey qualified before adding, "I guess I could dream a little bit. My free pass, because her and Susan are such good friends, is Paltrow. I've got to get her back in these movies so I can make out with her onscreen again."
The Iron Man star clarified his "free pass," or allowed indiscretion in a relationship, is while the cameras are "rolling on a take," but said Susan "could care less" about his and Paltrow's onscreen kisses. He later revealed his wife's own free pass to Entertainment Tonight.
"I'm gonna go [Paul] Bettany," he said when asked to pick a Marvel co-star at a New York screening of Captain America: Civil War. "He's got that European, British flair."
Downey and his wife met on the set of the 2003 movie Gothika and married in 2005. The couple share 4-year-old son Exton and 18-month-old daughter Avri, and the actor is also dad to 22-year-old son Indio with ex-wife Deborah Falconer.
Downey will next play Iron Man in Captain America: Civil War, which co-stars Chris Evans and opens in theaters May 6. The actor revealed he is open to "one more" Iron Man solo film in an interview with Nightline last week.
