Tina Fey, Reese Witherspoon wear similar purple dresses on Oscars red carpet

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Tina Fey and Reese Witherspoon turned heads on the Oscars red carpet by wearing similar, strapless, purple gowns Sunday.

Fey sported a statement necklace and up-do with her dress, while Witherspoon selected glittery bracelets and earrings and wore her long, blonde hair straight to complete her look.

The actresses were on hand to serve as presenters at the Hollywood gala, which honors excellence in cinema. Their outfit choice was a trending topic on social media during the Oscars broadcast.

Fey, 45, is best known for her work in TV's Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock. She will soon be seen in the big-screen comedy Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. Witherspoon, 39, is a previous Oscar winner for her work in Walk the Line.
