LONDON, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Benedict Cumberbatch was spotted on the Doctor Strange set over the weekend.
The 39-year-old English actor was seen wearing a tunic and cape similar to the outfit he wore to cover the Jan. 8 issue of Entertainment Weekly.
Chiwetel Ejiofor and Benedict Wong, who play Baron Mordo and Wong, respectively, were also spotted filming in the streets of London. The movie started principal photography in November and will open in theaters Nov. 4.
"It's very different, it's an Astral Plane," Cumberbatch said of the story to the Wall Street Journal in January. "There's a huge new element to this Marvel universe that's going to be employed in building this story and this character."
"I'm not going to be eked out on any spoilers or reveals now. It's quite a way off but I'm very excited about that spiritual dimension, obviously," he added of Strange's connection to the mystic arts. "It's something that's been a huge part of my life."
In the comics, Stephen Strange is a brilliant but egotistical doctor who acquires powers after a car accident ruins the use of his hands. As Sorcerer Supreme, he uses his abilities and magic items to help defend Earth from mystical threats.
"He can create these mandalas of light that he can use as shields and he can use as sort of weapons," Marvel president Kevin Feige previously told Entertainment Weekly. "He can create portals that will open before your eyes that he can step through and go to other places around the world."
