Amy Adams to star in series based on Gillian Flynn's 'Sharp Objects'

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- American Hustle and Man of Steel actress Amy Adams is to star in the small-screen adaptation of Gillian Flynn's 2006 novel Sharp Objects.

The casting was confirmed Friday by The Hollywood Reporter.

To be directed by Jean-Marc Vallee, the project is being shopped to cable and streaming outlets by Entertainment One and Blumhouse Productions. Marti Noxon will serve as the series' showrunner.

Adams will play Camille Preaker a reporter, with a history of mental illness, assigned to cover the murders of two preteen girls in her hometown.

Flynn's book Gone Girl is a bestselling mystery that was adapted as a blockbuster 2014 film.
