LOS ANGELES, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- Warner Bros. Pictures has released a new teaser trailer for the upcoming superhero showdown, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The new footage premiered alongside Fox's Batman prequel drama, Gotham as it aired its mid-season finale.

Fans were treated to an epic stare down between the two iconic characters as Superman confronts a chained up Batman before pulling off his mask to reveal his true identity as billionaire Bruce Wayne.
The teaser is part of a larger full trailer that will debut Wednesday on Jimmy Kimmel Live just a week after the late night talk show debuted the new trailer for rival Marvel's Captain America: Civil War.
Starring Ben Affleck (Batman), Henry Cavill (Superman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) and Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens in theaters March 25, 2016.
Earlier this month, Affleck made headlines after he admitted to feeling pressure for the crossover film to perform well for Warner Bros. who has had a shaky year at the box office.
