LOS ANGELES, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- Expectations are high for the upcoming superhero crossover, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, something that star Ben Affleck is fully aware of.

Speaking with Variety, Affleck opened up about feeling pressure for the film to perform well for Warner Bros. who have had a shaky year at the box office.

"I think there is a ton of pressure on it," Affleck said of the film, in which he plays Batman. "I mean I would be bull-[expletive] you to say there isn't."

"We are a very kind of instant gratification culture when it comes to analyzing the film business. And there is a lot of hyperbole involved," the actor continued. "Nonetheless, there's a lot of pressure on it. If it doesn't do well, that will be extremely disappointing."

Affleck is however confident that Batman v Superman can change the fortune of Warners Bros. along with the help of other DC Comics properties. "You'll see next year they are going to have a great year," Affleck said. "They are now developing ... probably the single greatest under-exploited IP asset in the entertainment business, the DC comic world. And now they have started to exploit that and you are going to see that blossom. And, when it does, it's going to be massive."

Currently Warner Bros. plans to release DC Comics films such as Suicide Squad on Aug. 5, 2016 and have recently started filming Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot.

After Batman v Superman is released, Affleck will once again don the cape for 2017's Justice League and will direct and star in his own stand-alone Batman film.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens in theaters March 25, 2016.
