Johnson had announced Daddario's casting earlier in the day, writing, "It's official: Want to welcome the talented and gorgeous @alexannadaddario to the cast of #Baywatch for the role of 'Summer.' Alex is a one of a kind woman (I know from experience) and can't wait for you guys to see her own the role."

Nicole Eggert originated the role of Summer Quinn on Baywatch in the 1990s. The action drama ran from 1989 to 1990 on NBC, and aired in syndication from 1991 to 2001. The show was renamed Baywatch Hawaii for its 1999 to 2001 seasons.

Baywatch co-starred David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson and Erika Eleniak as Los Angeles County lifeguards, and has been long rumored for a movie adaptation. Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon will helm the film, which is slated for release in 2016 or 2017.
