'The Martian' tops the North American box office with $37M

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- Matt Damon's space drama The Martian is the No. 1 movie in North America for a second weekend, earning an additional $37 million at the box office, Rentrak announced Sunday.

Coming in at No. 2 is Hotel Transylvania 2 with $20.3 million, followed by Pan at No. 3 with $15.5 million, The Intern at No. 4 with $8.7 million and Sicario at No. 5 with $7.4 million.

Rounding out the top tier are Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials at No. 6 with $5.3 million, The Walk at No. 7 with $3.7 million, Black Mass at No. 8 with $3.1 million, Everest at No. 9 with $3 million and The Visit at No. 10 with $2.4 million.
