TORONTO, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Eighties movie star Rick Moranis has declined to appear in director Paul Feig's upcoming female-led Ghostbusters reboot.

The elusive actor, who hasn't played in a live-action role since 1997, sat down with The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday to talk about his career and why he decided not to come back for Ghostbusters.

"I hope it's terrific," he said of the new movie. "But it just makes no sense to me. Why would I do just one day of shooting on something I did 30 years ago?"

Moranis stated during the interview that he has not retired and is willing to start acting in movies again.

"I'm interested in anything that I would find interesting," he said. "I still get the occasional query about a film or television role, and as soon as one comes along that piques my interest, I'll probably do it. [But Ghostbusters] didn't appeal to me."

So far the new reboot has been able to bring back together original cast members Bill Murray, Dan Akyroyd, Ernie Hudson and Sigourney Weaver.
