NEW YORK, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Maisie Williams says filming her first sex scene was an "extremely awkward" experience.

The 18-year-old English actress discussed the first in an interview with Vulture published Sunday. Williams filmed the scene for new indie movie The Falling, which centers on the strange occurrences at an all-girls school in the 1960s.

"It was extremely awkward!" she admitted. But [co-star] Joe [Cole] was very sensitive to the fact that I had never done a scene like this before, and it was great to work with someone who was so considerate of that."

"We went out for a couple of lunches and stuff just to get to know each other, and we had days of rehearsal where we'd get to know our characters and spend a couple hours with each other," she added. "So I knew him quite well, and we got along quite well. It all paid off in the end."

The Falling is available online and in select theaters, and co-stars Florence Pugh and Greta Scacchi. Williams portrays the daughter of an agoraphobic mother who is the first of several students to suffer from unexplained fainting spells amid a sexual awakening.

Williams is best known for playing Arya Stark on HBO series Game of Thrones, which will return for a sixth season in 2016. The actress is also slated to guest star on Doctor Who season 9, and appeared in a new trailer for the BBC show last week.
