LOS ANGELES, June 19 (UPI) -- Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg face off in a first Daddy's Home trailer.

The 47-year-old actor portrays the mild-mannered stepfather to wife Sarah's (Linda Cardellini) two kids, with Wahlberg as the children's hostile and freeloading father. The preview sees the pair compete for both Sarah and the kids' affections.

"There are just so many families now that are not traditional families, that are blended families with stepparents and kids and trying to figure out that dynamic," Ferrell told Yahoo! in January. "So I think it'll be fun for people to see us comment on that dynamic."

"We don't have any problem doing heightened movies that get crazy," he related. "This one is kind of in the zone of Meet the Parents in that it's pretty relatable in terms of the scenarios and relationships in it. The comedy still sometimes gets in the ceiling, though."

Ferrell and Wahlberg previously collaborated on The Other Guys (2010). Daddy's Home is directed by Sean Anders (That's My Boy, Horrible Bosses 2) and John Morris, and opens in theaters Dec. 25. Hannibal Buress and Paul Scheer also have roles.
