Brittany Ishibashi cast in 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2'

The sequel is scheduled for release in 2016.

LOS ANGELES, May 28 (UPI) -- Brittany Ishibashi has joined the cast of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.

The 34-year-old actress will play Karai, daughter to villain Shredder (Brian Tee) and a high-ranking member of his Foot Clan.

Minae Noji portrayed the character in the original 2014 live-action movie, but was barely featured in the film.

Ishibashi and Tee were spotted on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 set this week in New York. The actress was dressed in a black kimono, while Tee sported black leather and armor.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is directed by Dave Green, and opens in theaters June 3, 2016. Megan Fox will return as April O'Neil, with Alan Ritchson as Raphael, Noel Fisher as Michelangelo, Jeremy Howard as Donatello and Pete Poszek and Johnny Knoxville as Leonardo.

Ishibashi is known for playing Anne Ogami on USA Network miniseries Political Animals and Dr. Kelly Hamata on The CW medical drama Emily Owens, M.D. The actress has also appeared on The Mentalist, Bones and Castle.
