ALBUQUERQUE, May 27 (UPI) -- Jeff Goldblum has returned as David Levinson.

Independence Day 2 producer Dean Devlin shared a photo of himself with the 62-year-old actor on set Tuesday.

"Hanging with David Levinson (Jeff Goldblum) 20 years later is a dream come true! #IndependenceDay," he captioned the picture.

Devlin produced the original Independence Day (1996), and will produce the sequel. The first film saw Goldblum's character discover and warn the White House of the aliens' planned attack, albeit too late.

Roland Emmerich will return to direct the new movie, with Bill Pullman as Thomas Whitmore, Vivica A. Fox as Jasmine Dubrow, Judd Hirsch as Julius Levinson and Brent Spiner as Brackish Okun. Newcomers Liam Hemsworth and Jessie Usher will also star.

Independence Day 2 is scheduled for release June 24, 2016. Goldblum last appeared in Mortdecai with Johnny Depp and Gwyneth Paltrow, and recently guest starred on ITV comedy Portlandia and Comedy Central series Inside Amy Schumer.
