Fox portrayed Jasmine Dubrow in the original film and will reprise the role in the sequel. The character is wife to Steven Hiller (Will Smith), but the actor is not attached to the new movie. Usher will reportedly play the couple's son instead.

Independence Day was released in 1996, with Goldblum, Smith and Bill Pullman as stars. The feature follows a group of humans who counterattack aggressive aliens, and Independence Day 2 will open in theaters June 24, 2016.
