Harrison Ford narrates 'Living in the Age of Airplanes' documentary

WASHINGTON, March 20 (UPI) -- National Geographic Studios says it will release its new Harrison Ford-narrated documentary Living in the Age of Airplanes next month.

The film was produced and directed by Brian J. Terwilliger, and features a score by James Horner. Its world premiere will take place at the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., on April 8, and it is scheduled to debut in IMAX and digital cinemas nationwide April 10.

"Since we were all born into a world with airplanes, it's hard to imagine that jet travel itself is only 60 years old, just a tick on the timeline of human history," Terwilliger said in a statement. "With this film, we want to reignite people's wonder for one of the most extraordinary aspects of the modern world."

"Living in the Age of Airplanes is the perfect film for National Geographic," added Mark Katz, president of distribution for National Geographic Studios. "It combines the best of exploration and adventure, anthropology, geography and aviation -- using captivating visuals to inspire and engage audiences on a variety of levels."

The documentary is set for release as Ford continues to recover from injuries he sustained when a small plane he was piloting experienced engine failure and crashed on a California golf course. The 72-year-old screen icon -- and aviation enthusiast -- is best known for his performances in the classic Star Wars and Indiana Jones movie franchises.
