Lily James denies waist was Photoshopped for 'Cinderella'

The film is based on the traditional fairy tale and Disney's 1950 animated feature of the same name.

NEW YORK, March 4 (UPI) -- Lily James says her waist wasn't Photoshopped for Disney's live-action Cinderella.

The 25-year-old actress denied claims of such in an interview with Nightline on ABC. James' tiny midsection in film promos sparked rumors her body was digitally altered, but the star said she was able to achieve a 17-inch waist naturally.

"I have naturally a quite small waist," she related. "And on top of that I have a corset that pulled me in within an inch of my life ... And then the skirt is so big that the perspective and the proportions make it look smaller than it is."

The ball gown James wore in the movie was designed by Sandy Powell, and features 270 yards of fabric, three miles of hems and 10,000 Swarovski crystals. The actress stunned in a different fairy tale dress at the film's Los Angeles premiere earlier this week.

Cinderella is directed by Kenneth Branagh, and opens in theaters March 13. The movie also stars Richard Madden as Prince Charming, Cate Blanchett as wicked stepmother Lady Tremaine and Helena Bonham Carter as the Fairy Godmother.
