LOS ANGELES, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- IM Global will handle sales on new Mel Gibson film Hacksaw Ridge.

Hacksaw Ridge was co-written by Robert Schenkkan and Randall Wallace, with Suzanne Warren as executive producer. The film will follow Desmond T. Doss, a real-life WWII Army medic who became the first conscientious objector to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Gibson last appeared as Conrad Stonebanks in The Expendables 3, and is scheduled for Jean-Francois Richet thriller Blood Father. The actor made his directorial debut with The Man Without a Face (1993), and subsequently helmed Braveheart and The Passion of the Christ.

Garfield is known for portraying Peter Parker/Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man and its sequel, and will reprise the superhero for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 in 2016. He will also star with Liam Neeson and Adam Driver in new Martin Scorsese film Silence.
