LOS ANGELES, Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Andy Serkis will reportedly portray Ulysses Klaw in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

The 50-year-old actor appeared in both trailers released for the sequel, but little identifying information was shown. Sources report Serkis is confirmed to play the villain, and an insider told Schmoes Know the role will be a composite character of Klaw and his father, Fritz Klaue.

In the Marvel comics, Klaw is a physicist who uses the metal vibranium to manipulate sound. He kills Black Panther's father to steal the substance, and is subsequently maimed by the superhero. Chadwick Boseman will star as Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War and Black Panther.

Avengers: Age of Ultron will see Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Captain American (Chris Evans) and the rest of the team take on the supervillain Ultron (James Spader). The film opens in theaters May 1.

Serkis is known for his stop motion work as Gollum in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and Caesar in Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. He is scheduled for an unspecified role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
