NEW YORK, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Norman Reedus says The Boondock Saints III is in the works.

The 45-year-old actor confirmed the news in a Reddit AMA forum Sunday. Reedus portrayed Murphy MacManus alongside Sean Patrick Flanery as Connor MacManus in The Boondock Saints (1999) and The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day (2009).

The Boondock Saints saw Murphy and Connor become vigilantes dedicated to ridding Boston of crime. The brothers contend with the assassin Il Duce (Billy Connolly) before it is revealed he is their father, Noah MacManus. The movie developed a cult following and grossed $50 million in video sales.

The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day opened with Murphy, Connor and Noah living quietly in Ireland. The brothers are forced to return to the U.S. after they are framed for murdering a priest. The film was also directed by Troy Duffy, and managed to earn $10 million at the box office after being critically panned.

Reedus has appeared in such films as The Notorious Bettie Page, American Gangster and The Conspirator, and currently stars as Daryl Dixon on AMC series The Walking Dead. The horror drama is in its fifth season, and on midseason break until February 2015.
