Katniss Everdeen wax figure unveiled at Madam Tussauds

LONDON, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Katniss Everdeen has been immortalized in wax at Madame Tussauds.

The Hunger Games protagonist, portrayed by Jennifer Lawrence in the film series, received her own wax figure at the London museum. Madame Tussauds in New York and Hollywood will also feature the character's likeness.

Madame Tussauds depicted Katniss in a leather jacket with scarf, pants and boots. She stands with a bow at her side and quiver of arrows on her back, and has a determined countenance. The Mockingjay symbol appears on the wall in the background.

"We are hugely excited to have worked with Lionsgate to launch a Katniss wax figure following The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1," a spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter. "The figure is in its own film-specific backdrop, allowing our guests to get up close to Katniss and the beloved story of The Hunger Games."

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 opened in theaters in November, and saw Katniss continue her fight against President Snow (Donald Sutherland) and the Capitol. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 will bring the film series to a close in November 2015.

The original Madame Tussauds museum was established in London in 1835. Artist Marie Tussaud began wax modeling in the late 1770s, and her initial collection included historical figures such as Jean-Jacques Rousseau. Today, each creation costs $300,000 and takes several months to create.
