'Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1' is No. 1 at the North American box office for a 2nd week

The third installment in the franchise has earned more than $480 million worldwide since its release.

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- The action-adventure movie The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 is No. 1 at the North American box office for a second weekend, earning $56.9 million in receipts from Friday through Sunday, Rentrak announced.

The third installment in the franchise has earned more than $480 million worldwide since its release.

Coming in at No. 2 in the United States and Canada this weekend is Penguins of Madagascar with $25.8 million, followed by Big Hero 6 at No. 3 with $18.8 million, Interstellar at No. 4 with $15.8 million and Horrible Bosses 2 at No. 5 with $15.7 million.

Rounding out the top tier are Dumb and Dumber To at No. 6 with $8.2 million, The Theory of Everything at No. 7 with $5 million, Gone Girl at No. 8 with $2.5 million, Birdman at No. 9 with $1.9 million and St. Vincent at No. 10 with $1.8 million.
