Natalie Portman in early talks for Steve Jobs biopic

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Natalie Portman is reportedly joining the controversial Steve Jobs biopic that will be scripted by Aaron Sorkin.

According to Deadline, the Oscar-winner will have a "major role" on the film, which will be based on Walter Isaacson's biography about the late Apple co-founder. Variety is reporting Portman will play the film's female lead.

The upcoming biopic has been plagued with issues since director David Fincher abandoned the project in April. Soon after Danny Boyle was announced as the director, actor Leonardo DiCaprio pulled out from playing the lead de to scheduling conflicts. Christian Bale, who was supposed to replace him, also left the project. Earlier this month the still-untitled movie was dropped by Sony and is believed to have been picked up by Universal Studios.

Seth Rogen and Jessica Chastain have also been associated with the movie. Rogen is reportedly in talks to co-star as Steve Wozniak, the man who co-founded Apple with Jobs, while Chastain is being eyed for an unspecified role in the drama.
