Amy Adams to play Janis Joplin in biopic 'Get It While You Can'

Jean-Marc Vallee is set to direct the "American Hustle" and "Enchanted" actress in the biopic "Get It While You Can" next year.

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Amy Adams' long-gestating plans to play rock icon Janis Joplin on the big screen are about to become a reality.

Jean-Marc Vallee is set to direct the American Hustle, The Muppets and Enchanted actress in the biopic Get It While You Can, Deadline reported. With a script by Ron and Theresa Terry, the film is expected to start production in mid-2015.

Valle's credits include the critically acclaimed dramas Dallas Buyers Club and Wild.

Adams, 40, will soon be seen in Big Eyes.

Joplin died of a heroin overdose in 1970. She was 27.
